The agriculture sector is expected to increase its production to 5% from 3% that it was in 2014, declared the Minister of Agriculture while speaking about the expectations of this sector for 2015. The main objectives that the Ministry of Agriculture has set for 2015 are the irrigation, drainage and food security, which are also main priorities and conditions set by the EU.
The Albanian government has planned many investments for several projects in this sector about food security after the allocation of the $40 ml fund by the World Bank and grants from private donators.
The government aims to transform “Made in Albania” mark into a certified and reliable food mark in the international market. For this, there are 26 measures in total that will be implemented in financial terms in this sector, where a key problem to be solved is informality. During a press conference, the Minister of Agriculture Edmond Panariti stressed that the increase of production standards and the increase of greenhouses’ surface and exports towards the EU countries. “During the last year, the agriculture sector faced many difficulties such as plant or animal diseases and flooding.
