“Made in Albania” agricultural, livestock and agro industrial exports increased by ALL 2 billion during the period of January – June of this year. For the same period of a year ago, agricultural exports reached the amount of ALL 7.3 billion and the most exported products have been the watermelon, tomatoes, potatoes, cucumbers, ect.
The official figures were published in a report by the Ministry of Agriculture, according to which the total value of agricultural exports has reached the amount of ALL 9.3 billion, a significant increase in the past years. The Ministry attributes this positive development to the supporting policies the government is applying in this sector which provide many facilities for farmers and those who want to invest in the agriculture sector in Albania.
During the past year, the Ministry of Agriculture boosted the agricultural production by subsidies for farmers, by offering state owned lands at a low rate for investors and by creating new trade opportunities in the international market for Albanian farmers.
This has been followed by several investments in this sector such as modern greenhouses, warehouses and farms which have employed many people and have increased the amount of agricultural production in overall. Speaking about the embargo Russia has put to Albanian products, the Ministry confirmed once again that this occurrence has not had effect in the trade activity of Albanian farmers.
