For the first time, Ministry of Agriculture in collaboration with the Agricultural University will compile the national map of the agricultural products. The map consists in the identification of the proper areas to cultivate varied agricultural products. The map will be published during October and the Ministry aims to use this map as a basis for the agricultural supporting schemes.
These governmental schemes will not be compiled in general terms but specified and detailed, based on the area where the supporting scheme will apply, by highlighting the agricultural needs for specific areas. In the region of Malësia e Madhe, the agricultural priorities will be the medicinal and aromatic plants, chestnuts, ect. Different from that, in the southeast region of Korça, prior agricultural products are apples, potatoes, beans, ect. As for the southern region of the country, the Ministry will support cattle and olive production.
The purpose of it is to avoid the concentrated production of some products and to increase the planting of sort of products in specific areas. Experts from the Ministry say this map will serve for the compilation of the framework for the formalization of the agriculture sector as well as to orient the agricultural production towards the market and consumers demands.
