Tirana capital is becoming day by day an attractive city for tourists and this requires an increase of investments in the infrastructure sector in order to improve city’s services for tourists. One of the latest initiatives undertaken by the newly elected Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj has been the establishment of public toilets and taps in several crossroads and populated areas in the city.
But a more helpful incentive has been the establishment of information boards for tourists which show the map of the city and make it easier for them to orient. These “info points” as the Mayor described them, show the current location in the map and several directions and orientations in city’s touristic spots.
According to Veliaj, “the image of a city is created by its own citizens and I appeal to Tirana citizens to keep the city clean and friendly. The Municipality has established these information boards in order to help tourists orient but the best guide and image of Tirana is You – this is the best postcard”.
Tirana is a city rich in tourism places and landscapes to visit, cultural and historical monuments and museums and tourism brings revenues to the city. These “Info Point” information boards have been established in the center of the city, in the main squares, at Tirana Artificial Lake and other touristic points that attract visitors. During this summer season, Tirana was visited by at least 600 tourists per day.
