In a press conference, the Minister of Energy and Industry Damian Gjiknuri declared that 62 mining zones have resulted as problematic and dangerous, after several controls throughout the country. Private companies will no longer be allowed to exercise activity in these zones since they put in danger the life of workers, according to him.
He also announced the cancelling of works in D zone in Bulqize Mining and the revocation of 18 mining permissions. “The Ministry will revoke 18 mining permissions since we aim to increase the safety in the workplace in mining and to prevent the illegal activity in dangerous zones by monitoring them in collaboration with the state police,” declared the Minister.
Gjiknuri said that in the past years, the Ministry has revoked circa 200 mining permissions for subjects that did not meet technical criteria and didn’t pay taxes. He added that the government has sanctioned the progressive environmental rehabilitation forcing subjects to cancel funds for the transformation of the environment to its previous condition.
One of the measures applied in this sector in the past years is the decrease of pensioning age for miners with 5 years and the duplication of pensions for 3840 miners.
