A report issued by the Bank of Albania for July 2015 shows that deposits in the banking system in Albania reached the amount of ALL 968 billion. The report also shows that about EUR 112 ml where withdrawn by clients during June-July of this year, mostly by Greek capital banks). Deposits of individuals shrank has been compensated by the increase of demand deposits, in Albanian and foreign currencies.
In another report, Bank of Albania announced that during July of this year interest rates on loans were recorded at their lowest level in 2015. According to official statistics, the average interest rate of interest rates on loans was 8.4% in June and 7.9% in July. According to experts, the decrease of interest rates on loans will boost lending in the banking system.
The reports conclude that the banking system in Albania remains liquid and well capitalized.
