The first semiannual of this year has resulted lucrative for second tier banks in Albania, according to a report published by the Association of Banks. 13 private banks closed their semiannual turnover positively, according to the report. What is important and a positive trend is that most of the banks increased their earnings during this period, which shows that the banking system is stable and safe.
“BKT” reported ALL 3.1 billion earnings, “Raiffeisen” ALL 2.1 billion and “Intensa Sanpaolo” ALL 1.4 billion earnings during January-June 2015. Compared to the same period of 2014, BKT and Intensa Sanpaolo increased significantly their earnings while Raiffeisen earnings decreased slightly, according to official figures.
While other private banks also increased their profits during the first half of 2015, Credins earnings tripled during this period, compared to the same period of a year ago. Negative results have been declared only by two banks, Tirana Bank and Credit Agricole.
