Small and medium sized enterprises will be supported by a new financing scheme, according to the Ministry of Economy. The State Help Commission at the Ministry of Economy approved the decision for establishing the “Voucher” scheme for supporting SMEs, a scheme that aims to boost the economic activities of SMEs which operate in the production field, agro processing sector and information technology field.
The decision was published in the Official Bulletin and foresees these businesses will be able to gain more knowledge regarding innovation, marketing techniques, experiences and the best practices which have not yet been applied before by SMEs. Such supporting scheme aims to have a positive effect in enhancing the competition and the economic activity of these SMEs.
All small and medium businesses which want to be part of this financing scheme must apply at the Ministry and the scheme will cover circa 85% of the costs for a project. The scheme will be funded by state funds during the period of 2015-2017. During 2015 the amount put in disposal for such projects will be ALL 10 million, while during 2016 and 2017 the funding amount will be ALL 40 million.
“Voucher” scheme for SMEs will be implemented by the Albanian Agency of Investments which will present to the Ministry of Economy annual reports on the performance of this project every March 31st in the two upcoming years.
