On June 30th the Ministry of Economy organized a closing conference in the framework of the Harvard International Center for Development’s summer program finalization. The program allowed a group of your researchers in the economy field to engage in researching projects and analysis for several sectors of Albania’s economy, especially in exports sector.
This year’s program lasted 10 weeks and was focused in eight fields as tourism, economic zones, foreign investments, energy, incomes and remittances, regional integration and agriculture. The program was implemented by the Ministry of Economic Development, Trade, Entrepreneurship and Tourism in cooperation with other Ministries and institutions.
The group was headed by Professor Ricardo Hausman which declared at the conference that “Albania must be careful regarding the microeconomic sector since in turn macro-economic data and inflation are in stable rates. The Albanian economy is leaving behind its old model which was based in remittances and is searching for new ways.”
According to him “country’s economic growth must be normal based in the capabilities to produce in Albania and export abroad in fields of agriculture, mining, manufacturing, hydrocarbons, energy and tourism.”
Present in the closing conference held on June 30th was also the Minister of Economy Arben Ahmetaj, among many researchers and personalities of the economy field. The minister praised the work done by the researchers and mentioned the success cases derived by this research program. Ahmetaj also shared with the audience the findings and conclusions of the project and added that the opportunities of an economic growth stand in the knowledge invested in the economic field. This is the second year such program is being held in Albania with the close cooperation of Harvard University.
