On June of this year exports of goods increased by 5.8%, reaching the value of ALL 24 billion in comparison to the same period of a year ago. These data published by the Institute of Statistics show that the increase of exports has affected in the decrease of the trade deficit by 6.9% on June of this year, compared to June 2014. In turn, imports decreased by 1.1%, estimated to be at the amount of ALL 49 billion.
According to the official report, exports increased in annual terms due to the increase of exports of “food, beverages and tobacco” which contributed by +3.7 points of percentage, “textile and shoes” exports contributed by +2.8 points of percentage while “machinery, equipment and spare parts” exports contributed by +0.8 points of percentage.
While exports of “minerals, fuels and electrical energy” decreased by -3.01 points of percentage while “wood and paper products” contributed negatively by -0.1 points of percentage. Imports decreased mainly in “equipment and machinery”, “textile and shoes” and “minerals and electrical energy”. Report’s figures show that the European Union member countries still remain Albania’s main partners since Albania exports 73.2% of the total and 64.8% of imports.
