Albanian Minister of Transport Edmond Haxhinasto held a meeting with the Chinese ambassador to Tirana, Jiang Yu on Monday, July 13th. The two officials discussed about the investment plans of the Chinese government for Albania and Haxhinasto highlighted the excellent cooperation between the two countries in the infrastructure and transport sectors.
Referring to the “Road of Arbri” project, one of the most important infrastructure projects in Albania for the moment, which will be established by the Chinese government, the Minister declared that the work has begun. “We have created two working groups which will scrutinize technical and legal aspects of the project, assisted by an international consulting company,” declared Haxhinasto. The goal is to start the works for the Road of Arbri in the beginning of the upcoming year, declared the Minister of Transports.
In turn, the Chinese ambassador Jiang reaffirmed the support of the Chinese government for Chinese companies which will invest in Albania in the future. Jiang shared with the Minister some financing platforms for the projects that will be implemented in the country. The ambassador ensured that after the pairs finalize negotiating for the contract, the Road of Arbri construction may start within the next year. The Chinese companies will also finance the studies made for this project, said the ambassador.
During the discussions, the Minister spoke about other government’s initiatives in infrastructure and transport, as the construction of Adriatic-Ionian highway which will be supported by the European Union and the Eighth Corridor, which has been a point of interest for several Chinese companies.
Infrastructural projects of great importance for the country are also the “Thumane-Vore-Rrogozhine” road segment, the Orikum-Palasa tunnel and the bypass of Elbasan. According to the Minister, Albania aims to attract investments also for the railways system and ports.
