The General Director of the German Albanian Chamber of Commerce Anette Kasten declared in an interview for Scan TV that German businesses and investors are increasing their interest to invest in Albania. Kasten said that German investments in the country reach the value of EUR 100 million per year in the past two years and that these investments are mainly focused in production.
The head of the German Chamber of Commerce said that “the task of the Albanian government is to maintain a clear business policy for a sustainable implementation of investments. We have noticed that the government is showing a good will in supporting foreign investors. There have been undertaken several initiatives in the reduction of bureaucracies. But, the government must keep fighting corruption and informality and to implement a clear and stable legal framework for fiscal policies.”
In Albania, currently operate 151 German-owned enterprises and most of them exercise activity in trade and industry sectors. German investments have increased significantly in the latest years, given that only during the past year their number increased by 28.
Anette Kasten also considered the deepening of Durresi harbor as an excellent opportunity in increasing the opportunities of Albania to attract a larger number of foreign investments in a short time.
