Albania has become part of the European Union program for “Employment and social innovation” on behalf of its candidate status for becoming a European Union member. The relation of the draft law which has been presented at the Assembly cites that “the program will contribute in the solution of the unemployment problem among the youth and groups in need, by giving access in microfinance”.
The agreement between the government and the EU will provide nationwide support in social issues and employment aspects. The participation of Albania in the EU projects aims to reduce the unemployment among youth and boost the creation of new job vacancies by providing financing for small and medium sized enterprises. Another important aspect of the program is the boost of social innovation throughout the country.
Being a candidate country for the membership in the European Union, Albania will have access in two of three axes of the program. Albania will participate in the axe that will provide funds for the decrease of unemployment and the axe that will give funds for small and medium sized enterprises.
For 2014-2016 period, Albania will have to pay to the European Union budget an amount of EUR 50.000 as a contribute for its participation in this program.
