The IMF delegation held on Tuesday a joint conference with the Minister of Finances Shkelqim Cani, the Bank of Albania’s Governor and economy experts. Naadem Ilahi, head of the IMF delegation to Albania declared that the Albanian economy is immune to a possible bankruptcy of Greece. “The IMF does not predict any serious risk from the Greek crisis since Greek banks have lost their influence in the Albanian market since years”, declared Ilahi.
In turn, the Minister of Finances and the Bank of Albania’s Governor declared that the bank system in Albania has sufficient liquidity and even why Albania may face a decrease of exports but this will not affect in general the economy since their volume has been at low rates for the past five years.
Present in the conference was also the Minister of Economic Development Arben Ahmetaj which declared that the Albanian economy has showed stable developing tendencies and remains immune to the heavy situation in Greece. “The preliminary measures taken by the government have reduced the effect of the long Greek crisis in Albania”, said Ahmetaj.
