Sofia capital hosted the last week 16 Ministers of Agriculture from Central and Southeast Europe and high ranked officials of China for the summit between China and European countries.
During the summit, China expressed its interest in investing in Central and Southeast European countries mainly in the agriculture sector but also in infrastructure and tourism. China aims to invest in huge projects by providing soft loans or by concessions.
The Minister of Agriculture, Edmond Panariti was the representative of Albania in this important economic meeting while the Chinese government was presented by its Vise Minister of Agriculture, Zeng Yichun. Panariti said at the meeting that Albanian exports in the agricultural sector are increasing and China represents a new opportunity for increasing exports in the Chinese market.
During this economic summit was presented for the first time the Association for the Promotion of Cooperation between China, Central and Southeast Europe countries in the Agriculture Sector. The association will have one member per country and will be headquartered in Sofia, Bulgaria. Its executives vowed to organize periodic meetings and activities in order to strengthen the economic cooperation in the agricultural sector between China and the European countries.
