The increase of excise tax in the beginning of the year has increased the incomes allocated to the state budget, according to statistics published by the Ministry of Finances. According to Ministry’s report, incomes reached the amount of ALL 13.9 million for January – May period, increasing with ALL 1.4 million compared to the same period of 2014.
The decrease of tobaccos’ import and the war against fiscal evasion at the Albanian Customs have affected in the increase of incomes from the excise tax, according to expert.
The Albanian Customs administration and the Crown Agents British company which is assisting Customs in a two year term program, launched several months ago the “Do clean business” campaign, mainly focused on alcoholic drinks. The campaign aims to decrease the informality in this aspect and reduce fraud cases of businesses which trade alcoholic drinks out of standards.
