Albanian and German businessmen and business representatives attended the “Day of Albania – North Rhine Westphalia dialogue” business forum, organized by the German Embassy to Albania.
The business forum was attended by the Albanian delegation, headed by the Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Entrepreneurship Arben Ahmetaj while the North Rhine Westphalia delegation was headed by the Minister of Economy, Trade, Medium sized Businesses and Professions, Gunther Horzetzky.
The Albanian Minister of Economic Development Arben Ahmetaj invited the German businessmen to invest in the free economic areas, announcing that “within the next month will be issued the tender for Spitalla free economic zone”. Ahmetaj presented to the participants the so far undertaken reforms in the economy sectors and the facilities provided by the government to foreign investors that are currently investing or want to invest in Albania.
In turn, the North Rhine Westphalia’s Minister of Economy Gunther Horzetzky praised the good trade relations between the two countries, by highlighting the imports of Albanian products in Germany. The Minister stressed that Albania and North Rhine Westphalia have many unexploited collaboration opportunities, mainly in the fields of garment industry, metals, chemical products, ect.
1/3 of the Albanians who are residents in Germany live in the North Rhine Westphalia, declared Minister Horzetzky, adding that they have become a very good potential for the enhancement of relations between the two countries. “Albania has a lot economic potential but it is needed the compilation of several recommendations,” declared Horzetzky.
The attendants discussed about the ways Albania and Germany can enhance economic coopeation. Participants at this forum were business representatives whose businesses operate in various fields such as energy, industry, trade, members of the Albanian German Chamber of Commerce, ect.
