Korca Mayor and TAP country managers discuss on the expropriation of lands

In the framework of joint collaboration for the implementation of TAP project in Albania, Korca Mayor Sotiraq Filo held a meeting with Anton Mifsud-Bonnici, Access and Stakeholder Management Director at TAP project, responsible for delivering access to land for the pipeline in Greece, Albania and Italy. Present in the meeting were also TAP country managers of Italy and Greece.

Since the works for this project will start in the beginning of the next year, TAP country managers are holding discussions with Mayors of cities where the pipeline will be implemented.

Filo and Bonnici discussed about the next steps that need to be followed for the successful realization of the project and since Korca will be the first area where pipelines will be implemented, many hectares of lands must be expropriated before the end of 2015. Korca communes of Bulgared, Mollaj and Vithkuq will be the areas where TAP pipelines will be implemented, and in other areas of the Albanian territory.

The two officials discussed on the possibility of employment for locals in the works of this project, which will be very helpful to them. The implementation of the project in Albania will bring long term profits for locals and neighbor countries as well.
