Albania and Italy have signed reached an agreement regarding the improvement of Tax Administration services and performance and to foster data exchange between respective institutions.
“Tax inspectors without borders” initiative started with the support of OECD and consists in experience and data exchange between counterpart institutions, the transferring of auditing knowledge and abilities in tax administrations.
The new program was presented at the Italian embassy headquarters in the presence of the Italian ambassador to Albania Massimo Gaiani, Albanian Minister of Finances Shkelqim Cani and General Director of Tax Administration Brisejda Shehu. For a six months period, Italian tax inspectors will assist Albanian homologues in technical and operational aspects during their activity.
Minister of Finances Shkelqim Cani said this initiative will fight more the fiscal evasion in country, by adding that “tax administration needs to widen their knowledge in the framework of ‘Tax Inspectors Without Borders’, a program that will reflect international standards and will fight abuses by tax inspectors.
In turn, Italian ambassador said: “I welcome to Albania Dr. Marko Orland, the representative of Italian Agency of Taxes which will be in Albania for the upcoming six months to work at the Tax Administration, in order to implement this cooperation between Albania and Italy.”
