Parliamentary Economy Commission approved on January 30 the decree proposed by Albanian President for appointing Gent Sejko as Bank of Albania’s Governor. After approved by the Economy Commission, the decree has passed in Assembly, waiting to be voted in the plenary session by parliament’s members.
Gent Sejko presented to the Economy Commission members his platform and strategy for Bank of Albania by stressing that his activity will be based on priorities such as transparency and the protection of consumers’ interests. “The close cooperation of Central Bank with international partners is a key element of bank’s activity. A main priority of my work will be even the recovery of confidence towards the institution”.
Gent Sejko was proposed by a decree as the official candidature of President of Albania, presented to the Albanian Assembly in December 2014. Gent Sejko has rich curriculum vitae in working in the bank system in Albania and in international bank systems. He is currently Vise General Director of “Societe Generale” French bank branch to Albania. Sejko was chosen among 42 candidatures for new Governor of Albanian Central Bank. The approval of Sejko’s candidature implies that the voting process in parliament will be just a formality, according to MPs.
