Minister of Social Welfare and Youth Erion Veliaj appealed to all businesses to apply for the Employment Promotion Fund during the presentation of this initiative at an activity organized by Albanian Foundation for the protection of rights of people with disabilities and Ministry of Social Welfare, with the support of USAID in Albania.
As stressed by the Minister, this fund will provide $4.5 mln funds for companies that hire people with disabilities, with the aim to boost employment.
“The funds provided by Employment Promotion Fund scheme will pay four complete wages and social insurances for a year, for businesses which employee persons with disabilities. I am convinced that companies will be very satisfied by their work because even people with disabilities are well trained,” declared the Minister.
Businesses that will become part of this scheme will have extra support by the government in order to help people with disabilities to integrate in society, “since they have been discriminated by labor market for a very long time,” added Veliaj.
Employment Promotion Fund is an initiative undertaken in the beginning of the past year and has funded many companies, mainly in garment industry. This fund tends to change the mentality that prevails on people with disabilities regarding their abilities to have a normal work activity.
The fund also encourages companies to foster cooperation with the government and to pay social insurances to their employees, in order to reduce informality.
