Trade exchanges with EU member countries for 2014 are estimated to be about 65% of the total and the main trade partner of Albania is still Italy with circa 37.7% of the total trade exchanges. Referred to INSTAT official data, imports of Italy to Albania reached the amount of 147.513 million ALL and exports towards Italy increased, reaching the amount of 153.419 ALL.
The most imported products from Italy are “textiles and shoes” at the amount of 31.661 million ALL, followed by minerals, fuels and electrical energy, at the amount of 25.912 million ALL. Other goods imported from Italy are equipment, machinery and spare parts for new industries and for the renovation of existing machinery, bought by private Albanian or Italian entrepreneurs which currently operate in Albania.
Imports’ amount for machinery and equipment increased and reached the amount of 24.747 ALL, showing that businesses have increased investments in their factories, mainly in industries of textiles, construction materlas and factories of agro industrial production.
Speaking about exports, INSTAT data show they reached the amount of 123.372 million ALL during 2014. Compared to exports in 2013 which reached the amount of 103.005 million ALL, we can notice that they increased significantly, mainly for products as “textile and shoes”, whose exports reached the amount of 66.248 million ALL.
