Facilities and the ease of taxes have been promoted continually in Albania by the government, but the effect of these policies has been noticed by Il Giornale Italian magazine, by publishing an article entitled “Living with 15% taxes is just one hour away from Italy”. The article shared by Prime Minister Edi Rama in his social media accounts stresses the high number of Italian entrepreneurs which have chosen Albania as their preferred destination to invest.
According to Il Giornale, currently in Albania are living more than 20.000 Italian citizens who are investing or working in their businesses in country. Their facilities relate to the avoidance of bureaucracies and taxes no higher than 15%. The Italian newspaper highlights the fact that if compared to other regional countries, Albania is the place that provides more facilities to foreign investors, since someone can open a business in one day by using One Stop Shop and other fiscal backing by the government.
Government has continually adopted easing policies for foreign investors in Albania, and many cooperation agreements have been signed between Albania and Italy. Albanian Prime Minister and several Ministers have attended official visits to Italy to lobby for Albania in order to attract Italian investors in country. Apart from businessmen or entrepreneurs, many Italians of different professions have come to Albania to work, such as journalists, architects or professors.
When sharing the article, Rama said that fiscal facilities promised by the government are now a fact and this is being proved by the internationals as well. Albania has improved its ability to attract foreign investors, as seen even by the positive ranking by 40 places in Doing Business 2014 report.
