Trans Adriatic Pipeline company announced in a press release the construction of internal lines and turnings of the pipeline which will connect Greece with Albania. The project is divided into 6 segments which will connect in the pipeline’s exit points in Kavalla in Greece and Durres city in Albania. This gas line will be 780 km long, at a total weight of 443 thousand tons and a diameter of 121.92 cm / 91.44 cm.
The head of TAP Procurement Directory, Knut Steinar Kvindesland declared about the project that “it is divided into 6 segments to give companies the needed time to prepare for this project.” Kvindesland added that the selection of potential participating companies will be strictly, since one of the main criteria that companies must meet in order to become part of the project relates to the high standards they must comply. These standards are about health and environmental issues, safety and the engagement of these companies in the “zero danger” TAP policy. The prequalifying process for external lines will be opened in the beginning of 2015.
This huge project will transport natural gas from Azerbaijani to Europe and will traverse to Greece, Albania, Adriatic Sea with its final destination in southern Italy. The construction of TAP will ease the gas supply for many European countries as Bulgaria, Albania, Croatia and many others. TAP is expected to open many new vacancies during its construction and will be a huge source for foreign investments in countries where it will traverse. TAP press release announced that details of this contract will be published after their publication in the EU’s Official Bulletin. TAP has several shareholders and it is predicted that it will end by 2019.
