The Chinese government has vowed to construct the Road of Arbri and for that was signed a collaboration memorandum between the Albanian government and Chinese Exim Bank. The news announced by the Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama from Belgrade where he is heading the Albanian delegation to the Chinese Summit. The signing of this agreement will be followed by the opening of a construction site in Albania, financed by the Chinese part.
Prime Minister Edi Rama attended a meeting with his Chinese counterpart, Li Keqiang, where he underlined the importance of Chinese investments in Western Balkan and asked for a closer collaboration between the two countries in the agriculture field, energy and infrastructure. Rama estimated the excellent relations between Albania and China in many aspects and invited the Chinese Prime Minister to visit Albania.
In turn, the Chinese Prime Minister evaluated the excellent bilateral relations between China and Albania and speaking in the name of the government he heads, Keqiang expressed the will to increase the agricultural imports from Albania as well as investments by Chinese companies in the electrical energy sector and infrastructure. This, said the Chinese PM, would help Albania in becoming part of the South East Europe network, in order to have access in many projects.
“Road of Arbër” will be the first project that will lead the two countries towards a new collaboration era, expected to start in the upcoming year,” wrote PM Rama in his Facebook official account. The leader of Democratic Party and at the same time Mayor of Tirana, Lulezim Basha replied to Rama’s declaration by stating that this strategic project started three years ago but it was stopped when the SP came to power.
PM Rama also had a bilateral meeting with the Serbian Prime Minister Alexander Vucic during his attendance in the Summit of Belgrade, at which participated head of 16 EU countries’ governments and the Chinese Prime Minister as well.
