Speaking at the National Forum against Corruption, the Minister of Finances, Shkelqim Cani declared that additional state budget revenues allocated by the tax administration and customs have increased by 14.4%, equal to 29.7 billion ALL more than the same period of 2013.
Corruption is a wild phenomenon but we have taken several measures to fight it, but there is still to be done. Several cases have been reported to the Procurement, said Cani. We have also worked on the improvement of the legislation, he added, aiming to improve further the business climate in Albania and to simplify tax and customs procedures.
Cani spoke about the new IT system, implemented at the Tax Administration, a modern and advanced system that offers a better service for all tax payers. Speaking about the improvements that have been made at the Albanian Customs, he mentioned the simplified declaration procedure that many businesses will start using it starting from March, 2015.
The simplified procedure is a novelty at the Albanian customs and represents a drastic change of the business-customs administration relations. The new system, according to Cani, will increase transparency and erase useless bureaucracies since businesses will make their declaration procedures only online. The online process reduces costs and time for businesses and customs administration, added Cani.
Regarding the business climate, a sensitive and important objective of the Albanian economy, Minister Cani stated that during 2014 about 22 easing measures for businesses have been taken, with an effect of 11.25 bl ALL. There are also 23 other easing measures, for which the effect has not been measured yet.
