Albania and Hungary signed an important agreement which will give the opportunity to the Albanians to transfer their pensions to Albania or vice versa. The agreement for social protection was signed by the Albanian Minister of Social Welfare and Youth Erion Veliaj, and the Hungarian Minister of Trade and Foreign Affairs, Peter Szijjarto.
According to the Minister of Social Welfare and Youth Erion Veliaj, this agreement is good news regarding the excellent relations between Albania and Hungary. He added that the signing of this agreement will help Albania to sign such agreements with other states where the number of Albanian emigrants is considerable. This agreement will allow Albanian citizens that live in Hungary to take advantage of their social contributions they have given to the Hungarian state.
Hungary is the third state with which Albania has signed agreements on the right of people to transfer their pensions wherever they choose to live. Albania has signed the same type of agreement with Belgium, Luxemburg and Turkey and according to official sources discussions to sign such agreements are ongoing with Germany, Czech Republic, Romania and Austria.
The Ministry of Social Welfare also announced that the agreement on pensions will be soon signed with Canada and Macedonia, and a similar procedure is being followed with Greece and Italy, where the number of Albanian emigrants is high.
Hungarian Minister of Trade also attended a meeting with the Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Entrepreneurship, Arben Ahmetaj, at which they vowed for a close collaboration between the two countries.
