The Ministry of Agriculture has published a latest report on the exportation figures of wine, which shows that exports quadrupled during the January-September period. Exports reached the amount of 395 hectoliter of wine during 2014, while in 2013 Albania exported only 85 hectoliter of wine.
Wine production has boosted in the last years and this has come as a necessity of farmers to export different products from agricultural products and has encouraged them to produce high quality wine.
The latest figures published by the Ministry of Agriculture show that even the import of wine has increased, since Albanian traders do not believe in the quality of “Made in Albania” products. The exports of wine have increased due to the quality and low price of wine offered by Albanian farmers compared to other countries’ farmers.
The Ministry of Agriculture has announced new facilities for farmers who produce wine, regarding the review of wine excise and the reimbursement for the local industry. In turn, farmers have asked the cut of this tax by the government.
