Minister of Social Welfare and Youth, Erion Veliaj attended the 5th Congress of the Albanian Confederate of Syndications on December 1st and spoke about several labor issues in country. At a press conference, Veliaj discussed about the minimum wage level and vowed that in 2015 the government will start discussions for the increase of it. The minister required the support of ACS in this process, saying that if the increase of minimum wage scheme has been implemented successfully in other states, this will be a successful policy even in our country.
Another topic discussed by the panel was the denunciation and the penalization of companies which do not pay social insurances or do not declare the wage of their employees. “All syndicates branches and communities must denounce the undeclared jobs. Albanian workers cannot be part of the ‘modern slavery’ scheme and every job position should be declared at the Labor Inspectorate,” added Veliaj.
Veliaj also hailed the successful implementation of the pension’s reform in cooperation with the National Council of Labor and the efficient collaboration between the government, syndicates and employers.
During the last year, circa 81 thousand vacancies have been generated by the social insurance scheme according to the minister. These are not new vacancies but new employees declared at the state institutions which became part of the social insurances scheme.
