A latest report by European Bank for Reconstruction and Development ranked Albania the first among regional countries for the implementation of structural reforms during 2014. “Report of Transition 2014” issue gives a positive assessment to Albania for the realization and finalization of many reforms in the ICT sector, agro business, industry, real estate, sustainable energy, urban transport and bank system.
Apart from the good performance in these sectors, the country has to undertake structural reforms in the railways system, insurance and capital markets, is stated in the report.
As for the regional countries, the report presents a negative performance of them in the implementation of reforms, especially in the energy sector. In latest years, many countries have compiled important reforms in this sector, without being able to implement them fully or have made slow progress.
As for lending, the gap has expanded almost in all Balkan countries. The report highlights positive performance of Western Europe countries in the improvement of infrastructure.
