Ministry of Agriculture and Albanian Institute of Statistics have published a report on the agricultural products exports during 2014, showing that this sector has had the highest increase of trade exchanges. Exports of agricultural products, livestock and agro industrial products reached the amount of 11 billion ALL during the January-September 2014 period (10.2 billion ALL in 2013), by marking an increase of 900 million ALL more, compared to the same period of 2013.
The export of agricultural products has increased revenues by this sector at an amount of 4.4 billion ALL, 0.4 billion ALL more than a year before. These figures show that agriculture has contributed more than other sectors in the country’s economy during 2014. Agro industry products exports reached the amount of 6.1 billion ALL in 2014 (5.6 billion ALL in 2013), while the livestock products’ exports decreased slightly, compared to 2013.
In turn, imports have also increased to 67 billion ALL during this period (63 billion ALL in 2013). The high amount of imports is reflected in the trade deficit in the agriculture sector, which in 2014 reached the amount of 56 billion ALL.
