The General Director of National Agency of Tourism, Julinda Dhame, had a two-day visit in Vatican, Italy and attended a meeting with vise Secretary for Relations to States in Vatican, Monsinjor Antoine Camilleri and Monsinjor Henryk Jagodzinski. The meeting was focused on an agreement for cultural cooperation, signed in 2011 between the Albanian government and Opera Romana Pellegrinaggi, the Holy See institution which organizes Catholic pilgrimages in Roma and countries which are of interest to be visited in religious terms.
The agreement has not been implemented yet but the Holy See representatives said that Albania is now a destination of these catholic pilgrimages, and the country will be visited by religious people from different countries. The pairs also evaluated the historical visit of Pope Francis to Albania on September 21th, which according to them, highlighted the values of the peoples of Albania and the unprecedented religious tolerance.
The head of National Committee of Cults Ilir Hoxholli and former ambassador of Albania to Vatican, Rrok Logu, were part of the Albanian delegation headed by Dhame. The head of the National Agency of Tourism said in an interview for Radio Vatican that Albania has the will and considers as a very serious the agreement reached with the Vatican’s institution in order to promote cult objects of Albania and tourism.
The pilgrimage that will start their journey from Roma with a destination Jerusalem will pass through the traces of the old roman road “Via Egnantia” (Durres – Kavaje – Rrogozhine – Peqin – Elbasan – Librazhd – Qafe Thane). Along the journey, the believers will see a lot of cult objects and beautiful landscapes.
