The produce of cereals in the region of Vlore has been increasing continually, according to an EU funded IPATECH survey. The study shows that this region counts about 29031 agricultural farms which cultivate arable crops, which about 174605 agricultural plots.
Making a comparison to the amount of cereals produced in 2013 with figures from 2008, the production has duplicated (16110 tons of cereals in 2013; 6100 tons of cereals in 2008), along with the planted hectares (in 2013 were planted 3886 hectares of cereals). The increase of production has increased therefore the products’ rudiment, since the production of wheat marked an average indicator of 45 kv/hectares. The biggest part of this produced cereals’ amount has come from the production of wheat and corn (wheat – 9957 tons) at a total amount of 43091 tons.
The study also shows the increasingly tendency of farmers in using greenhouses for their production activities, as the most practical and low cost form of producing. The effectiveness of greenhouses has been noticed by the increase of rudiment and production’s amount, comparing it to the field production (the rudiment of greenhouses products is estimated to be 3.5 times higher than field products’ rudiment).
The greenhouses number has duplicated in the region of Vlore, comparing it to 2005. The most common plants and vegetables produced in Vlore are tomatoes, cucumber, spinach, ect. The average amount of production of vegetables in this region reaches 35152 tons/per year.
