Prime Minister of the Republic of Albania, Mr. Edi Rama held a two-day visit in Serbia, were he met with the Serbian Prime Minister Alexander Vucic and other high officials. Many politicians, media and citizens of both countries considered this as a historic visit of Rama, since the last Albanian high official to visit Serbia was the dictator Enver Hoxha, who visited the country 68 years ago. Part of the Albanian delegation headed by PM Rama was the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ditmir Bushati, Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Arben Ahmetaj, and a group of Albanian journalists.
As announced by the Serbian press, the country was under strict security measures until the Albanian delegation ended its historical visit. They published details of these security measures, such as many military forces on ground or above buildings that surrounded the Serbian Prime Ministry headquarters in Belgrade capital.
The Albanian delegation also visited Presheva city, an Albanian populated city, part of the Serbian territory. Presheva welcomed this historical visit of an Albanian Prime Minister and all over the city there were banners with captions “Welcome Prime Minister” with the portrait of PM Edi Rama on them.
As announced preliminarily by the Albanian Prime Ministry, PM Edi Rama held an official meeting with Serbian PM Alexander Vucic at 11:00 AM and both PMs will hold a joint conference at 12:00 AM. The Albanian delegation was hosted at the Belgrade airport by the Serbian MP Alexandar Vucic (former Prime Minister of Serbia).
