“Mountains toward the market”, a $8 ml project for agriculture in remote northern regions

“Mountains toward the market” is the project being applied in the northern Albania region, supported by the International Fund for the Development of Agriculture. This project aims to assist the initiatives and enterprises undertaken by farmers in remote northern areas, in order to make possible the establishment of farms and the plant of orchards.

The $8 ml project consist of supporting farmers in order to improve the local economy and to decrease the unemployment in these villages. The project will finance initiatives in six fields such as agriculture, medicinal plants, road infrastructure, ect. The institution has also financed the rehabilitation of the irrigation system and in the construction of warehouses for the crops of farmers.

The Committee for Production Activities, Trade and Environment approved the project law to make possible the implementation of this project by the International Fund for the Development of Agriculture. During the meeting, the Committee members emphasized the project as a successful activity realized at the main part of it and by respecting the signed contracts.

The project will also finance iniatives taken by locals for the boost of tourism in the remote areas and for professional trainings and technical assistance.
