Albanian Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Edmond Haxhinasto, attended the meeting of the Council of Ministers of Transport of the European Union held in Milano, Italy. During the meeting, Haxhinasto highlighted the importance of the Eighth Corridor project and urged for EU to invest in this project. This investment is seen as an important contribution of the EU for the integration and development of Balkan countries, he added.
An additional point emphasized by the Albanian Minister was the construction of the Blue Corridor, a connecting highway for Western Balkans countries. The participation of Minister Edmond Haxhinasto in the meeting of Council of EU Ministers of Transport marks the first participation of Albania in the meetings of this Council, headed by Italy.
Albanian Minister of Transports and Infrastructure met with Montenegro and Macedonia counterparts, Ivan Brajovic and Mile Janakieski. Their discussion focused on the importance of Adriatic – Ionian Corridor, a highway that will connect Balkan countries and will have immediate effects on the improvement of road infrastructure and economic development of western Balkan contries. The meeting of the Council of EU Ministers scheduled for September 16-17, under the Italian presidency.
