TIRANA, August 5
According to the latest classification by the World Bank regarding the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) for the year 2018, Albania is ranked the 122nd biggest economy in the world, out of 183 economies analyzed. The GDP of Albania is estimated in the size of $15.05 billion during last year, according to the actual prices. This rating means that the Albanian economy is bigger than that of Kosovo, North Macedonia or Montenegro.
Compared to other countries in Europe, the Albanian economy leaves behind Malta, Monaco, Lichtenstein, and Isle of Man. However, all of the aforementioned countries have a population and size smaller than that of Albania, meaning that in GDP terms Albania is behind them. Exclusion is only Moldavia, a country which in every assessment results to have a weaker economy than that of Albania.
On a world scale, the hegemony of the current most powerful countries in the world remains intact, leading the U.S.A. with an economy worth $20 trillion, followed by China with $13 trillion, and Japan, $4 trillion. Other countries that follow are Germany, the United Kingdom, France, India, Italy, Brazil, and Canada closing the list of 10 most powerful economies in the world during 2018.
