TIRANA, July 3
The clothing and shoe industry has declared that during the year 2018 has lost more than €105 million, because of the exchange rate, where Euro was devaluated considerably compared to the Albanian currency, Leke.
The owners of the apparel and shoe factories have even threatened to go on strike if the authorities don’t find a solution regarding this situation. They have requested compensation for the costs, fiscal facilities, and the approval of a legal package that protects them until the market gets steady.
According to Gjergj Gjika, the chief of the Union of Albanian Clothing and Shoe Manufacturers, there is no justification for the devaluation of Euro, and according to him the same difficult situation was registered last year too, and it is still going on this year.
