In the framework of “Week of Adventure in Balkans 2014”, 25 representatives of foreign touristic agencies and international media as Lonely Planet, Nanoq, National Geographic Traveler, Outside Magazine, Yahoo Travel and Wanderlust Magazine visited Albania. Week of Adventure is focused in the adventure aspect of tourism that Albania, Kosovo and Macedonia may offer to tourists.
The foreign visitors were informed about the travel offers that these countries’ markets offer to tourists and had meetings woth local operators with the aim to improve the touristic packages offered by them, in order to promote the region. During their stay in Albania, the foreign representatives had a tour starting from Mat city, the birthplace of Albania’s first king, Ahmet Zogu, the capital of Tirana, Vlora city, Sazani Island, Llogara National Park, Ksamil islets, Butrint ancient city (National Park), Gjirokastra city, and other touristic spots.
During the second day of their tour in Albania, Minister of Tourism Eglantina Gjermeni and the United States ambassador in Tirana, Alexandar Arvizu greeted the representatives and Gjermeni highlighted the cultural and historical heritage and the natural attractions of Albania, by adding that this introduction tour organized for the first time in Albania, is of a big importance for the promotion of tourism. The USA ambassador Arvizu declared that tourism is a very important economic sector for the country and evaluated the beautiful landscapes of Albania.
In their third day, the invited representatives of “Week of Adventure in Balkans 2014” visited Gjirokastra city, also known as the “Stone city”, part of the World Heritage list of Unesco. This Balkan tour will come to its end after the visit in Macedonia.
