Minister of Economy, Trade and Enterpreneurship, Arben Ahmetaj, declared in a joint conference with Prime Minister Edi Rama and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ditmir Bushati that the European Union considers Balkans region as a necessary and important extension of the European market. Minister Ahmetaj gave this declaration in the International Airport of Rinas, before heading to Germany where Ahmetaj will participate in the Berlin Summit of Ministers of Economy.
“The meeting of Ministers of Economy will be focused in four topics, with the aim to link further the Western Balkans market with the European market”, said Ahmetaj. The road infrastructure, the Adriatic-Ionian Highway, the energetic infrastructure and the railway junctions will be the most important topics that will be discussed in this meeting.
All the projects will be compiled in an integrated way, in order to include as many states as possible in these beneficiary projects for their infrastructure and economic development.
Regarding other issues, Ahmeta declared that the German model of vocational education is an example that must be followed by the Balkans region, in order to have a qualified labor force in a near future that can be compared to the EU’s labor force.
Tourism is another challenge, according to the Minister Ahmetaj. In his opinion, this sector needs to integrate first in regional terms, and then in the European terms. Ahmetaj highlighted the Albania’s potentials in this sector by saying that Albania is seen as a promoter of the regional development in the Balkans.
