International Monetary Fund announced the arrival of a group of experts in Albania on August 25th, and an expected technical meeting of this group with the Ministry of Finances.
A month ago, IMF has asked a detailed information for several concerns regarding key sectors of Albanian economy, by presenting a list of questions in relation to incomes, expenditures, dept, privatizations, pensions, energy and other aspects.
IMF group has also sent a list of questions to the Bank of Albania, asking information regarding the current economic situation, bank system, lending, ect.
A very important issue that will be discussed during the meeting is the way of how the funds allocated by the budget of this year will be used and distributed. These are the funds of public investments that aren’t implemented yet.
According to economy experts, the International Monetary Fund group will propose the allocation of these funds in a special fund and not to distribute them. This special fund will be used instead to reduce the dept or to be an emergency fund for unexpected situations in cases the budget of the next year will face risks and problems.
