World Happiness Day: Albanians are Not Happy

TIRANA, March 20

While March 20th is observed as the International Day of Happiness, it’s not all smiles for Albania. The World Happiness Index confirms that Albania ranks among the least happy countries in Europe. The report released by the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network on Wednesday is a landmark survey of the state of global happiness that ranks 156 countries by how happy their citizens perceive themselves to be.

Albania ranks 107th out of 156 countries.

This year’s World Happiness Report focuses on happiness and the community: how happiness has evolved over the past dozen years, with a focus on the technologies, social norms, conflicts and government policies that have driven those changes.

In the meantime, Kosovans are way happier compared to Albanians and the other countries of the Balkans as the country ranks 46th. Serbia ranks 70th, Montenegro 73rd, Croatia 75th, Bosnia and Herzegovina ranks 78th, and North Macedonia ranks 84th.

In the meantime, the happiest country in the world is Finland for the second year in a row. The list of the happiest follows with Denmark, Norway, Iceland, Netherlands, Switzerland, Sweden, New Zealand, Canada, and Austria.
