TIRANA, December 26
The highest amount of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) inflow during the third quarter (Q3) of 2018 came from companies investing in the energy and power sector. According to the data provided by the Bank of Albania (BoA), investments in the energy sector accounted for 38 percent of the total FDI volume during Q3 or Euro 101million.
Based on the data on foreign investments origin and sectors, most of the above-mentioned amount is invested in the projects of Devolli Hydropower and the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP).
However, the weight of FDI volume in the energy and power sector entered a downward trend. Both projects have reached their peak and now are going toward completion.
In the meantime, a growing trend was noticed in the mining and extraction industry, mostly in the oil sector. The investment volume in the sector reached Euro 55 million.
The financial sector accounted for Euro 32 million during Q3 mostly in the banking sector.
