Tirana Municipality is improving the cityโs road infrastructure by a 14.6 ml EUR loan given by European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in June 2006. There have been several investments in cityโs road infrastructure in the latest years in Tirana capital but the secondary roads have been neglected in the last years.
28 February 2014 has been the deadline of the loan agreement between Tirana Municipality and EBRD for the debt repayment, but this deadline was postponed until 31 March 2016. The draft has been ratified in the latest parliamentary session by the Council of Ministers.
According to a declaration of the Tirana Municipality, the implementation of the project for the road infrastructure investment has shown a positive performance since the loan agreement signed in 2006 but the postponement of the deadline for the dept repayment emerged as need due to delays in the starting of the implementation of this project.
Tirana district has the highest number of residents and the road infrastructure has been always a problematic not only for the residents but even for the local government.
