TIRANA, October 31
The newest direct flight route that connects Tirana with Dortumd operated by Wizz Air started on Tuesday, October 30. The first aircraft was welcomed at TIA’s runway with the traditional water salute. This service is an inexpensive alternative for all the Albanians living in Germany and to the travelers that visit Albania for business or leisure reasons. Two weekly flights will operate between ‘Mother Teresa’ International Airport and Dortmund airport, respectively on Tuesdays and Saturdays. The tickets starting at Euro 19.99 were available for sale since August.
The Hungarian airline has expanded its services at Tirana International Airport in the last two years with three new destinations: Budapest, London and, now, Dortmund.
“This is great news for all. Meanwhile, other destinations will be coming soon. Germany is now much closer, and we wish our best for the new route,” TIA’s CEO Rolf Castro-Vasquez said.
On his part, Wizz Air representative Andras Rado highlighted: “We are delighted to launch another exciting route from Tirana connecting Albania with astonishing Dortmund in Germany, a perfect destination for a weekend break.”

Dortmund is the only airport in the North Rhine-Westphalia state that includes a direct connection to Tirana on its winter timetable. The service is aimed especially to Albanians living in Dortmund. The route will establish an important and fast way of connection and bring Albania and Germany closer. It will help to boost economic cooperation and tourism.
In the meantime, Kosovo’s capital Pristina will be also accessible by Dortmund starting December 15th.
