TIRANA, April 16
The European Commission is expected to recommend the start of accessions recommendations for Albania and Macedonia.
In light of progress achieved, the European Commission recommends that accession negotiations be opened with Albania”, the commission is to say in its yearly enlargement report, due out on Tuesday (17 April), according to a draft seen by EUobserver.
In the meantime, member of the European Parliament’s Committee on Foreign Affairs Eduard Kukan said for Deutsche Welle that Albania and Macedonia made progress in their path towards the EU. He highlighted that besides the justice reform, Albania made progress in all the key priorities for the EU integration.
The expected recommendation will be the first for Albania and it comes 15 years after the signing of the EU stabilization pact and after ten years as a NATO member.
