Nation’s Road Fee, Concessionary Company Tests Electronic Booths

TIRANA, March 26

The company that won the concession for Nation’s Road (Rruga e Kombit) installed the electronic toll collection system and run the first tests on Sunday. It is expected that all the drivers that will use the highway, will pay a toll starting the month of April.
The concessionary agreement says that the company collects the payment from the electronic booths installed on both sides of the highway at Thirra tunnel. In the meantime, it explains that the goal of the concessionary agreement is to improve and maintain the highway for a period of 30 years.
The fee will depend on the type of vehicle, therefore, the fees are Euro 2.5 for motorcycles, Euro 5 for small vehicles, Euro 11.2 for bus and small trucks, Euro 16.2 for a midsize truck, and Euro 22.5 for heavy trucks.
On the other hand, the decision for applying a toll on the highway has been not discussed with the Kosovan side. This is what the Kosovan Minister of Infrastructure Pal Leska said for Gazeta Express.
