The production of olive has decreased lately about 2.5 times less than a year before. Despite the natural conditions, during the last year the production of olive was in low levels, as well as the production of olive oil.
After the publication of the official data of farmers’ associations, Tirana has been detected as the region with the lowest production of olive, about ten times less than a year before. The country counts more than 130 olive processing factories which work only a few days during one year, only after the harvest season.
Data show that during 2013, the production of olive and olive oil was in its lowest levels. The first plantations that subsidized by the state have shown positive results but according to farmers, the productivity is still at low levels.
