Drivers to Pay Toll on Nation’s Road Starting from April

TIRANA, February 7

The concessionary firm that will maintain and manage the Nation’s Road or Milot-Morine highway will officially start work in April. This means that drivers that are going to use the highway will start to pay the road toll. The Albanian road authority confirmed that it will breach all the maintenance contract on this road. The concession on the Nation’s Road entered into force in late December 2016. The agreement signed between the Albanian authorities and the concessionary firm foresees an average toll of Euro 5. However, there will be a categorization of vehicles, which is going to define a specific tool for different types of vehicles. Thus, motorcycles toll charge will be lowest while trucks are going to pay the highest toll rate. It is expected that over Euro 8 million will be collected during the first year and afterwards it will reach to Euro 14 million.
