TIRANA, January 13
Tourists and visitors will have the chance to visit Zvernec Monastery after the construction of a new wooden bridge, which is going to replace the existing bridge that was damaged by the increased level of water in Narta Lagoon.
The Municipality of Vlora unveiled the project that will provide a final solution to this problem that turned into an obstacle for tourists that want to visit the island and the monuments of culture and religious sites found there. The existing bridge was built in the early 90s, but it was ruined due to salt water.
Currently, the tourists that want to visit the island must rent a small boat for Lek 200.
Besides the bridge, even the pillars of Saint Mary Church need to be restored. Zvernec Island is one of the most interesting spiritual sites to visit in Albania. It is located in the centre of Narta Lagoon, only a short distance drive away from Vlora city.
